Buffalo, New York Weddings

Wedding Date: July 9, 2011
Location: Grand Island, NY

Church/Ceremony Location: St. Stephens Church on Grand Island - It was absolutely Beautiful! We were married in the old building so the ceremony had a very traditional look which I LOVED!! (No air conditioning though, and it was 90 degrees! lol)

Venue/Caterer: The Buffalo Launch Club on Grand Island - Although it was in no way awful, if I were to do it again, I would not have the reception here. Lisa, the wedding coordinator was not all that fun to work with, we requested that they have a specific kind of beer available (Blue Light of Course) and they ran out of it TWICE! (The first time was before the groom or I had even had a chance to sit down for dinner) There was an Hour and 1/2 between salad and dinner & once I finally asked about it I was told that they were waiting because one of my bridesmaids (the groom's sister) was not in her seat. (Well no wonder she was up, SOMEONE had to entertain the guests while they waited for dinner to be served!) Also, cake was not served to the groom, his mother, my father, and myself because we were not sitting down at our seats when they served it. That being said, it was a beautiful venue and it had a nice patio out back (by the river) for hanging out and taking pictures.

Dresses: My wedding gown was from Bridal's By D, while it was pricey, I absolutely LOVED it!! Elaine was extremely helpful! My bridesmaid dresses were from MA Carr and again, I had a great experience there! Everyone is so nice and helpful, but DO make an appt! Finally, my mother got her dress at Alfred Angelo and I LOVED them too! Very helpful and super nice!!

Invitations: I did my invitations and programs myself and it was really easy!! I found a style I liked at Michaels and went back every week with a 50% off coupon to buy another box until I had enough. (You have to save money where you can!) They come with instructions that are really easy to follow regarding how to print them and I didn't even use a full ink cartridge for invites, rsvp cards, envelopes, and programs!

Cake: My in-laws purchased our cake for us from a lady named Linda Pierre who is located in Buffalo. If I had paid for it myself, I don't know that I would have gone with her because of how expensive she is; however, I had NEVER tasted anything as amazing as her cakes!!! (At the cake tasting that is, remember I didn't get any at the wedding) We had pistachio for two of the tiers and German Chocolate Carmel Pecan for the others.

Limo: Our Limo Company was Advantage Limo and I was very pleased with them. I was nervous at first because leading up to the wedding they were very hard to get a hold of and not super friendly. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find out, on the morning of the wedding that they gave us an upgrade simply because they had the coach bus available that day! No extra charge! And, our driver was incredibly nice!

Photographer: Definitely was NOT happy with our Photographer Photography by Liz even though our pictures were beautiful. After our first deposit, I could not get a hold of her until the week leading up to the wedding. Then, she left the wedding before it ended (as soon as my best man gave her the money actually) and although she did stay pretty late, most of my friend's photographer's stayed right up until the last dance to capture that final moment. THE REAL KICKER THOUGH was that following the wedding, I could not get a hold of this women for the life of me! Phone calls, emails, feedback on her sites (which she just kept deleting so no one else would see); it wasn't until I actually dropped a letter off at her house threatening to involve a lawyer that she finally got back to me and provided me with a cd of all my pics and the rights to them. And....I haven't heard from her since!! Never got my album, thank you cards, or framed pictures. I noticed some other complaints on her website so I contacted two of those people on facebook to find out they were going through the same thing. I I met Liz at Brides World and she is a nice enough girl; I think just just may have been overwhelmed with her quickly thriving business, but it was an awful experience and I would not recommend her.

Flowers: Originally I was going with Maureen's in Buffalo because everyone said she was the best, and while she very well might be, she was not the friendliest. (I don't know, maybe she was having a bad day, but customer service is everything to me!) Anyway, a friend of mine was getting married a month before me and recommended that I check out her florist - Woyshners in Lakawana and I'm sooooo glad I did!!!! First of all DAVE was fantastic!!!! The flowers were beautiful & held up sooooo well! (We left them on the kitchen table the whole time we were on our honey moon and they were still almost perfect when we got back!)

DJ: Andy from Toy Bros Entertainment MADE the wedding!!!! He was absolutely perfect & to this DAY people still talk about him when our wedding comes up in conversation!!!! In addition, everyone that I have recommended him to has loved him as well!!! No one EVER left the dance floor!!!!

Hair: A friend of mine recently opened a new salon on Grand Island called Aura & they let my whole wedding party come in in the morning (had the place to ourselves, brought champagne, etc) & Krista and Ashley are fantastic!! Highly recomended!

Honeymoon: I will always and forever recommend Sandals resorts!! It was one of the best experiences I have ever had!! The staff was sooooooooo friendly, which I can tell you from experience does not happen everywhere, the food was AMAZING - like TRULY amazing, the tours were so much fun, and the islands of course are beautiful! We stayed at the Sandals La Toc resort in St. Lucia and I know three other couples who have gone to the same resort for their honeymoon and also loved it. We loved every second of our time there and can't wait to go back!
